L-band Amplifier

Short description

L-band amplifier for 950-2150 MHz with digitally adjustable gain from -10 to +20 dB in 1 dB steps and +20 dBm output P1dB. It compensates cable losses and boosts weak L-band signals while passing DC (up to 2 A) and the 10 MHz reference.

The L-band Amplifier restores signal level in satellite IF distribution systems. It compensates the attenuation of long coaxial runs and boosts weak L-band signals after passive splitters and combiners, delivering up to +20 dBm output power at 1 dB compression.

Gain is set digitally from -10 to +20 dB in 1 dB steps using the push buttons on the housing, while flatness stays within ±1 dB across the full band and ±0.3 dB over 40 MHz. The amplifier passes DC up to 2 A and the 10 MHz reference, so it can be powered through the coaxial cable and installed transparently between the modem and the BUC or LNB.

The L-band Amplifier is a compact in-line amplifier for satellite IF chains. It covers the full 950-2150 MHz L-band and provides adjustable gain from -10 to +20 dB with an output P1dB of +20 dBm, making it suitable for both boosting and fine level alignment.

Long coaxial cables and passive splitters and combiners reduce L-band signal levels before they reach receivers, modems or BUCs. The amplifier compensates these losses with digital gain control in 1 dB steps, keeping flatness within ±1 dB over the full band and ±0.3 dB over 40 MHz at any gain setting.

Thanks to the DC bypass up to 2 A and 10 MHz bypass, power and the frequency reference continue through the coaxial line to the outdoor equipment. The unit operates from +7.5…+34 V, consumes only 1.2 W and is housed in a sealed 116 x 28 x 89 mm enclosure weighing 350 g.

✅ Digital gain control in 1 dB steps

Gain is adjusted from -10 to +20 dB with push buttons on the housing, allowing precise level alignment of every L-band line without external attenuators.

✅ Transparent for DC and 10 MHz

DC up to 2 A and the 10 MHz reference pass through the amplifier, so BUCs and LNBs can still be powered and synchronized via the same coaxial cable.

✅ Stable response at any gain

High gain linearity is maintained across 950-2150 MHz at every gain setting, with ±1 dB full-band flatness and ±0.3 dB over 40 MHz.
🛠️ For long L-band cable runs, IF distribution after passive splitters or level alignment in teleport and headend racks, the L-band Amplifier offers a simple way to restore signal margin.

📌 Key features

  • 950-2150 MHz full L-band coverage

Amplifies the complete satellite IF band used by LNBs, BUCs and modems.

  • -10…+20 dB adjustable gain

A 30 dB adjustment range covers both attenuation and amplification of the line signal.

  • +20 dBm output P1dB

A high output level leaves headroom when driving long cables and several receivers.

  • DC bypass up to 2 A

Supplies remote equipment through the coaxial cable without a separate power line.

  • 10 MHz reference bypass

Keeps the 10 MHz reference available for BUCs and PLL LNBs downstream.

  • Low power, sealed housing

1.2 W consumption, +7.5…+34 V supply and a sealed 116 x 28 x 89 mm case.
